Bronze is a remarkable metal, it’s an alloy of two relatively soft and weak metals (copper & tin) on their own, but when joined together create a material tougher than iron. Forming only a light coating of patina even after years of exposure to harsh weather, bronze will not wear down or deteriorate.
If you think about it, the above sounds a lot like a metaphor for two individuals being “alloyed” together in marriage to form an incredibly strong and resilient relationship. Showing very little wear after years of weathering the storms, their bond has become stronger than iron. I would argue that this is why the “Eighth Anniversary” is also known as the “Bronze Anniversary”
